Postpartum Therapy In Oregon

You knew having a baby would change your life. You expected to be tired, emotional, and unsure of yourself sometimes.

However, you were not prepared to feel like you disappeared overnight.

Maybe you keep waiting for the moment when motherhood finally clicks. When you feel more connected to your baby, more comfortable in your body, or more certain that you are doing any of this right.

Instead, your mind never seems to turn off. You replay the birth, question every decision, and wonder why everyone else appears to be handling this better than you are.

Therapy gives you somewhere to say the things you have been carrying and begin making sense of the person you are becoming.

We can begin putting language around what has been happening.

Postpartum therapy may help you:

❋ Process your birth experience

We can talk through what happened at a pace that feels manageable, including the moments you keep replaying and the parts you have avoided thinking about.

❋ Understand what's beneath the anxiety

Together, we can make sense of the thoughts that keep pulling you toward Google, worst-case scenarios, repeated reassurance, or the feeling that you can never fully let your guard down.

❋ Find your way into a relationship with your baby

You will have room to explore disconnection, resentment, protectiveness, guilt, and love without forcing yourself to perform a version of bonding that does not feel real yet.

❋ Understand your anger and resentment

Your shorter fuse may be carrying exhaustion, loneliness, unfair expectations, invisible labor, unmet needs, or the feeling that everyone’s life continued while yours changed completely.

❋ Trust yourself as a mother

As the noise settles, you can begin hearing your own judgment again and making choices based on your family rather than fear, comparison, or the latest thing you saw online.

Find who you are becoming

A place where you get to tell the whole truth

You do not have to organize your thoughts before coming to therapy. You can show up unsure of where to begin, with the baby crying nearby and a story that comes out in pieces.

I will help you slow things down and understand what may be underneath the panic, anger, numbness, guilt, or disconnection. Some sessions may focus on your birth. Others may involve your relationship, your identity, your childhood, or the pressure you feel to become a certain kind of mother.

Our work follows what is actually happening in your life.

I am a therapist, a mom of two, and someone with personal experience of birth trauma and postpartum depression. I understand how strange it can feel to be deeply grateful for your child while also wondering what happened to the person you were before.

You will not receive another list of ways to become a better mom. Our sessions give you space to understand yourself more fully so motherhood no longer feels like something you have to survive by disappearing inside of it.

You do not have to wait until you are falling apart.

Many of the moms I work with almost talk themselves out of therapy.

They are still getting out of bed. The baby is cared for. They can laugh sometimes. They have people who love them. From the outside, everything looks mostly fine.

They keep telling themselves that another mom probably needs the support more.

Therapy is also for the mom who is functioning while quietly realizing that she cannot keep carrying this much alone. You can ask for help before the anxiety gets louder, the resentment grows, or another month passes with you hoping you will eventually feel normal again.

If you have been searching for postpartum therapy, saving posts that make you feel seen, or repeatedly wondering whether your experience counts, that is enough reason to have a conversation.

The first session is nothing to be afraid of. We start slowly, and I meet you exactly where you are. We will talk more about what has been feeling difficult, what you hope will change, and what you want support with. Then we will come up with goals together that feel meaningful and realistic for your life.

As we continue meeting, therapy starts to feel like a place where you can bring whatever is actually happening that week. We will keep checking in on what you need and shape our work around you.
